Nicholson, a native of Clinton County, Ohio, was an abolitionist active with the Underground Railroad. For a time he lived in a communal settlement, Prairie Home, near Urbana, Ohio. Nicholson was also interested in spiritualism and attended seances. He died in Indianapolis. A daughter, Mary, married Horace McKay. McKay, Martha Nicholson, 1843-1934
